Prof. Dr Joanna Madalińska-Michalak
Prof. dr hab. Joanna Madalińska-Michalak, Head of the Department of Didactics and Pedeutology at the University of Warsaw. Author of scientific publications on the issues of educational leadership, teacher education, teacher learning and development, as well as teacher professionalism and ethics. Editor of the publishing series: Brill – Teacher Education Policy in Europe, TEPE Book Series: “Key Issues in Teacher Education: Research, Policy and Practice” and a member of the editorial board of the publishing series Springer Book Series: “Evidence, Science and Public Good in Education”; Editor-in-Chief of ” Pedagogical Quarterly”.
Expert in research and educational programs related to teacher education, educational leadership and education management, school headteacher leadership and teacher leadership, teacher competences and professionalism, and the ethics of the teaching profession. Expert in European Education and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA): Erasmus+ Program (activities: Jean Monnet and Teacher Academies). Expert in European Research Funding 7th Framework Programme (2007-2013). Expert of National Centre for Research and Development (NCBR) and PO WER program.
Extensive experience in leading global, international and national scientific and research organizations: vice president of International Association of Educators, INASED, member of the Board of Directors of International Council of Education for Teaching (ICET, since 2017), member of the Scientific and Management Board of European Educational Research Association (EERA, od 2008), vice president World Education Research Association (WERA, 2018-2022), president of Polish Pedagogical Association (PTP, 2014-2019), vice president of Polish Pedagogical Association (2011-2014), president of Teacher Education Policy in Europe Scientific Network (TEPE, 2016-2020) and the member of Presidium of the Council of Scientific Societies at the Polish Academy of Sciences (od 2017). Representative of the Ministry of Education and Science in European Network on Teacher Education Policy (ENTEP, since 2018). In 2022, she was nominated for chairwoman of EERA.
2022: Award of the De Republica Institute in recognition of outstanding achievements in the social sciences and international activity, and the medal of the Polish Pedagogical Association in recognition of special merits for the development of pedagogy and popularization of its achievements in the country and abroad.
2019: medal of the Friend of the University in Yerevan, medal of the Faculty of Social Sciences of the University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn on the 50th anniversary of Olsztyn pedagogy. Several awards of the Rector of the University of Warsaw in recognition of achievements having an impact on the development and prestige of the university, as well as awards for scientific achievements (since 2015-present). Awards of the Rector of the University of Lodz for scientific achievements (1996-2014).
